With a downtown Episcopal church as the initiator, I worked for several years with a neighborhood renewal organization in one of Ohio’s declining cities. In 2001 we started the non-profit organization. Citizens were recruited, money was raised, and a million dollars of underground infrastructure was completed. With the recession of 2007, the project faded away. All that effort and nothing to show for it. I recently learned that there’s new life in that old city. The project, using the ideas, energy and organizational framework of our earlier efforts, is moving forward. Where hope and faith remain, anything is possible.
