March 12, 2020
Beloved in Christ,
These are difficult times, when many people are in danger of contracting the coronavirus COVID-19. There is already a case in Canton at Mercy Medical Center. For your safety, we have decided to cancel our Sunday service at 10 A.M. on March 15. This also precludes coffee hour and anything else happening that morning. We will resume services when it is safe to do so, and make that decision from week to week. For the time being, all our small groups have been canceled.
Please know that I am praying for all of you, for the health of community, as well as for all afflicted persons worldwide. In your private devotions, please pray for me, for us, and for them.
We have some suggestions for worshipping in isolation.
- The National Cathedral in Washington DC (an Episcopal Church) has virtual services via its website. They broadcast a virtual Sunday liturgy at 11:15 A.M. and they invite us to join them online at either cathedral.org, or their Facebook page.
- Trinity Cathedral in Cleveland also is live streaming their Sunday mornings. Trinity will live stream a 10:00 A.M. service of Holy Eucharist each Sunday, beginning this Sunday, March 15. The link for this is on the Cathedral’s website www.trinitycleveland.org.
- New Life has a teleconference each Sunday evening. Stay connected with your fellow parishioners at New Life for brief prayer on the Sunday Night Prayer Telecon. Just before 8 P.M., call (319) 527-2766, and when prompted, enter this access code: 420030#. If you would like to get a reminder text about a half-hour before the call, text or call MJ Maling at (330) 606-9904 or e-mail her at email@example.com.]
Our vestry is going to meet by teleconference on Monday, March 16. Anyone wishing to read the sermon I prepared for this Sunday may access it here:
