Interdenominational Taizé Prayer Service July 28, 2019

From noise to peace…

It seems that many of us are seeking respite these days from the noise of everyday life and the harrowing issues of our time. No matter if you call it spirituality or mindfulness, whether you attend a church or not, or whatever your denomination, a Taizé prayer service can provide relief. It is a brief but powerful sanctuary for your mind, body, heart and soul.

Experience the Taizé Prayer Service.

New Life’s next Taizé Prayer Service is Sunday, July 28, 2019 at 7 P.M. It will include serene Taizé music accompanied by acclaimed classical guitarist Adam Keeler and pianist Nicole Scafidi. Future services will be held on September 29, October 20, and November 17, 2019 at 7 P.M.

When we arrive, the church is silent and lit only by candles. For the next 30 minutes we are transported to a peaceful, healing connection with our God, a power greater than ourselves. We encounter God through calming song chanting, short readings, and silent meditation. We have the opportunity to light a candle for our prayer concerns. It is an individual experience, but in community. We depart in silence, with a newfound healing and tranquility. We can experience our noisy world in faith and hope.

Learn more about Taizé.

A monastic community in Taizé, France developed the Taizé service so that one prayer experience could be shared by people of many languages and denominations. Learn more about it here. Both Catholic and Protestant brothers lead the Taizé Community in one of the most celebrated examples of global Christian unity. It draws youth and adults from around the world each year to worship and learn.

The Taizé experience is a perfect way to connect with God for those who want to explore or develop their spirituality without the traditions of any one Christian denomination.

We hope you will take advantage of this very special spiritual experience. For more information, contact Bo Iole at (234) 571-9949.
